Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall, July 2022
According to Deutsche Welle (DW), Armin Papperger, the head of the German company Rheinmetall, reported this.
During a press conference, Papperger noted that these are theoretical possibilities and that there are currently no specific talks about providing peacekeepers.
However, Rheinmetall can offer "more than 2,000 items" for arming peacekeepers.
He cited the supply of a German tank brigade in Lithuania, the deployment of which is to be completed by 2027. According to him, this may involve "primarily tanks and armored vehicles."
Papperger also noted that Rheinmetall is "the largest manufacturer of army trucks." He mentioned electronic warfare equipment and reconnaissance drones, which may be needed to monitor "when the demarcation line is drawn."
In this regard, reconnaissance satellites may also be needed, in which Rheinmetall is "currently investing".
It should be noted that, according to Euronews, Rheinmetall ended its 2024 financial year with a record high operating profit, which increased by 61% to approximately 1.48 billion euros.
For reference:
The Federal Antimonopoly Office of Germany allowed Rheinmetall to create a joint venture with Ukraine at the end of September 2023. The enterprise, it was reported, would be based in Kyiv.
It was previously reported that the German company Rheinmetall was negotiating the construction of a tank factory in Ukraine. Rheinmetall would build four weapons production plants in Ukraine, one of which is already operating.
On June 11 last year, it was reported that the first joint workshop of the Ukrainian Defense Industry and Rheinmetall enterprises began operating in Ukraine, where they would repair and produce armored vehicles.
It is important to note that Rheinmetall is actively helping Ukraine in the war against Russia by supplying ammunition and various equipment. The concern recently received a new order for artillery shells for Ukraine. In particular, the German weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall handed over five more of the latest Caracal assault vehicles to Ukraine.
Rheinmetall has also handed Ukraine the latest KF41 Lynx infantry fighting vehicle. This happened at the end of 2024.
