Russia strikes Ukrainian infrastructure, killing one in Kherson and injuring two in Dnipro

On the night of March 13, Russian forces launched drone attacks targeting infrastructure in multiple regions of Ukraine. Explosions were reported at dawn in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, with a woman tragically killed amid heavy shelling in Kherson. Kyiv's air defense systems actively responded to the drone incursions.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, Ukrzaliznytsia, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, and the head of the Kherson city military administration, Roman Mrochko, and the Kyiv City Military Administration reported this.

Kherson region

After the Russian shelling of the Kherson region, the power supply disappeared in the Korabelny and Tsentralny districts, the settlements of Molodizhne, Nadniprianske, Inzhenerne, and partially in Zelenivka.

Specialists of "Khersonoblenergo" are studying the extent of damage.

Also, the Russian invaders on the night of March 13 launched massive strikes on Kherson.

"Kherson is under massive enemy fire!" the official said at about midnight.

He urged Kherson residents to remain in shelters for their safety amid ongoing Russian strikes on the city.

At 00:55 a.m., the official added that the Russian shelling of the city continues.

"Stay in shelters and do not approach the windows," he asks the residents of Kherson.

According to the Kherson City Military Administration, the invaders killed a civilian in Kherson – as a result of the shelling, a 42-year-old woman received injuries incompatible with life.

A 60-year-old Kherson resident in the Dnipro district was also injured. At the time of the drone attack, he was in a car. The man received shrapnel wounds to his back and lower limbs.

Dnipropetrovsk region

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Serhii Lysak, reported a drone attack on critical infrastructure facilities in several cities of the region, in particular in Dnipro.

"A hostile drone attack on critical infrastructure facilities in several cities of the Dnipropetrovsk region. There is a fire," his message said.

The consequences are still being clarified.

As a result of the attack, a 52-year-old woman received shrapnel wounds, she is in the hospital in moderate condition.

Infrastructure was also damaged in the Samarivskyi district. A car, an apartment building, an administrative building, and outbuildings were destroyed there.

"The enemy also attacked the Nikopol region. They used kamikaze drones and heavy artillery. The communities of Marhanets, Pokrovska, and Myrivska suffered."

"A 64-year-old woman was injured. She was hospitalized. An outbuilding was damaged," Lysak concluded.

Later, the head of the regional state administration, Serhii Lysak, specified that in Dnipro, high-rise buildings were damaged due to an enemy UAV attack.

"At least 100 windows were shattered, and garages caught fire. Authorities are currently surveying the area," he said.

The head of the regional state administration added that air defense forces destroyed 11 enemy UAVs and means in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways – ed.) reported that the Russians attacked the railway's energy facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Because of this, changes in the movement of several trains are possible. In particular:

  • train No. 86 Lviv – Zaporizhzhia departed from the Dnipro with a delay;
  • train No. 72 Lviv—Pavlohrad will follow a changed route via the "Synelnykovo-2" station instead of the "Samar-Dniprovsky" station.

Zaporizhzhia region

Around 5 a.m. in Zaporizhzhia, amid the threat of enemy drones, Russian forces attacked the regional center with Shahed UAVs. A series of explosions were heard as air defense systems engaged the enemy drones.

According to preliminary data, no people were injured. The attack damaged:

  • a private house,
  • an administrative building of an infrastructure facility.

"A damaged house and an administrative building of an infrastructure facility are the consequences of an attack by enemy UAVs on Zaporizhzhia," Ivan Fedorov wrote.

Kyiv

On the night of March 13, air defense forces also worked in Kyiv on enemy strike drones.

"Air defense forces were working to eliminate the threat in the sky over Kyiv," the Kyiv City Military Administration reported.

Before that, official websites and public forums reported that an air alert in Kyiv had been declared due to the threat of enemy UAVs.

At 2:41 a.m., the air alert was canceled in Kyiv.

For reference:
On the night and morning of March 7, the Russians attacked energy facilities in several regions of Ukraine, causing power outages for consumers. In particular, the shelled DTEK gas production facilities in the Poltava region "ceased their work." The enemy also launched a massive attack on the gas infrastructure facilities of the Naftogaz Group.

Attacks on critical infrastructure were recorded in the Odesa, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernihiv regions. Rescuers and energy workers are working to eliminate the consequences.

It should be noted that this was the first massive combined drone and missile attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine since the US suspended military assistance and intelligence to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

On March 12, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the termination of a $75 million grant agreement with the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund.
