Rebuilding Ukraine: Iceland transfers over €2 mln to bolster Ukrainian energy sector

Iceland transferred more than 2 million euros ($2.17 million) to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that on Telegram.

Before this, as the ministry emphasizes, Iceland made four tranches of contributions during 2023-2024.

The funds were directed to the purchase of necessary equipment for enterprises in the fuel and energy sector of the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

"Each contribution of partners to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine is significant. The corresponding funds are used to purchase equipment that helps energy workers restore what was destroyed by the enemy and return light and heat to the homes of Ukrainians," the head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko, said.

Iceland's contribution to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine is more than 5.6 million euros ($6.09 million).

It should be noted that on October 28, 2024, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Iceland for the first time on a working visit. He participated in the fourth Ukraine-Northern Europe summit, where he held bilateral talks with the prime ministers of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.

Earlier, Rubryka reported that in Stockholm, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Iceland Bjarni Benediktsson signed an Agreement on Security Cooperation and Long-Term Support.

Iceland pledged to provide comprehensive and long-term economic, humanitarian, and defense support to Ukraine and to facilitate its future membership in the EU and NATO.
