During a visit to Washington, UK Minister John Healey signed contracts totaling almost 30 million pounds sterling (about 38 million dollars), under which Ukraine's armed forces will receive drones from the American company Anduril.
This was reported on the British government website.
According to the department, these are the Altius 600 m and Altius 700 m drones.
The British government emphasized that the agreement resulted from a meeting of world leaders in London on March 2, when British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and allies agreed to continue military support for Ukraine to put it in a strong position before potential peace talks.
The International Fund for Ukraine will provide funds for the Anduril drone order. The British government said that the country has already provided Ukraine's armed forces with more than 10,000 drones.
In total, since July 2024, the UK has allocated more than £5.26 billion (over $6 billion) in military aid and financial support to Ukraine, including:
- £3 billion (about $3.8 billion) in annual military aid,
- £2.26 billion (almost $3 billion) in loans for military expenses.
For reference:
It should be noted that in November last year, Britain allocated £7.5 million (over $9.5 million) for military aid to Ukraine within the framework of the drone coalition. These funds will be used to purchase UAVs for Ukraine's armed forces.
At the same time, the drone coalition received another £16 million (over $20 million).
In particular, the money was allocated by:
- Germany (£10 million or $12.7 million);
- Canada (£3 million or $3.8 million);
- Luxembourg (£3 million or $3.8 million).
It should be noted that, after signing the 100-Year Partnership Agreement, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the transfer of 150 artillery guns and the Gravehawk mobile air defense system to Ukraine. He also stated that in 2025, Britain would provide Ukraine with more military assistance "than ever before."
