For reference:

On February 3, US President Donald Trump signed an official decree appointing retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg as special representative for Ukraine and Russia.

It is worth noting that Keith Kellogg was supposed to visit Ukraine in January, before Donald Trump's inauguration. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the visit date had already been agreed upon.

But then it turned out that Kellogg's visit had been postponed. Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi explained that this was due to legal reasons.

It should be noted that Keith Kellogg had previously stated that he was seeking a solution to the war within 100 days of the inauguration on January 20.

He also explained that ending Russia's war against Ukraine is essential for US national security and is part of American interests.

In addition, US President Donald Trump's special representative for Ukraine recently stated that a drop in oil prices to $45 per barrel could force Russia to sit down at the negotiating table.

Now, Kellogg plans to attend the Munich Security Conference on February 14-16, where he will talk with European leaders and convey the content of the talks to Trump.

80-year-old Keith Kellogg is a retired US Army lieutenant general who actively worked in national security during Donald Trump's first administration.

He was the head of the White House National Security Council staff from 2017 to 2021 and the national security advisor to then-Vice President Mike Pence.

In his youth, Kellogg fought in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Silver Star for heroism. He participated in the 1990–1991 Gulf War. During Operation Desert Shield, Kellogg served as chief of staff of an airborne division and then as assistant commander.

He served as chief of operations for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, the transitional government of Iraq, following the invasion of the country by the United States and its allies.
