United to win: UK unveils new £55 mln support package for Ukraine

As part of the agreement on a century-long partnership between the countries, the British government has announced a new support package for Ukraine.

The British Foreign Office reported this.

"We will work with Ukraine to revive services for families and communities that meet the needs of women, children, people with disabilities, and marginalized groups, and provide a safe and loving family for every child," the British government said.

The new support package worth 55 million pounds sterling should "increase resilience and economic growth" in both the UK and Ukraine.

It is noted that Britain is providing 3 million pounds sterling to supply Ukrainian grain and food to Syria. This initiative is being implemented jointly with the World Food Program.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy is also set to announce £17m in funding for innovative energy projects to support the recovery and resilience of Ukraine's energy sector.

In addition, a new economic recovery program will provide £10m to support Ukraine's private sector and the resilience of small and medium-sized businesses.

A further £25m from the UK will support Ukraine in building more inclusive, efficient, and effective social systems and services.

The ministry said these new announcements will also open up opportunities for UK businesses, including creating trade and investment opportunities.

It should be noted that on February 5, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy visited Ukraine to announce new aid.

Recently, Ukraine and Britain signed an agreement on a 100-year partnership. The agreement will be valid for the next 100 years unless either party wants to withdraw.

The relevant document will promote military cooperation between the countries in maritime security through a new structure to strengthen security in the Baltic, Black, and Azov seas and deter ongoing Russian aggression.

It will also bring together experts to develop scientific and technological partnerships in such areas as:

• health and disease protection,
• agricultural technology,
• space and drones,
• as well as to build friendship through educational projects.

In addition, a new British-developed grain inspection scheme will be launched to track stolen grain from occupied Ukrainian territories.

The document also consolidates the UK's position as a priority partner for Ukraine in:

• the energy sector,
• a strategy for extracting critical minerals,
• the production of "green" steel.

After the signing, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the transfer of 150 artillery guns and a Gravehawk mobile air defense system to Ukraine. He also stated that in 2025, Britain would provide Ukraine with more military assistance "than ever before."
