Drone attack ignites fire at Russian oil depot in Krasnodar Krai

On the night of February 5, explosions rocked Russia's Krasnodar Krai, igniting a fire at an oil depot, as residents reported a drone attack.

Regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed that another oil depot in the Krasnodar Krai caught fire following a UAV attack, attributing the blaze to a reportedly "repulsed attack."

"Our military repelled a drone attack by the Kyiv authorities. In the village of Novominskaya, Kanievskyi district, the wreckage of a UAV fell on a tank with minor residues of petroleum products. A fire broke out, it was assigned the second degree of complexity.

Special services are working at the scene. 55 people and 19 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire. The head of the Kanievskyi district is monitoring the situation on the spot. According to his reports, the fire has been localized, and there are no preliminary reports of injuries," Kondratyev wrote.

Reports indicate a fire erupted at an oil depot in the Kanievskyi district, remaining uncontrolled by 5 a.m. The blaze was clearly visible from satellite images.

Residents told journalists that the Albashneft LLC oil depot was under attack.

The company's website states it is a "dynamically developing enterprise, the main activity of which is the production of petroleum products" and "the only oil refinery in the territory of the Kanievskyi district of the Krasnodar Krai." The declared design processing capacity is up to 320,000 tons of hydrocarbon raw materials annually.

Russian media reports claim the fire was extinguished by 08:11 Moscow time (07:11 Kyiv time).

A video has surfaced online purportedly capturing the moment when "fragments" of the UAV struck.

On the morning of February 5, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the "destruction of four Ukrainian drones":

• two over the territory of the Kursk region,
• two over the territory of the Belgorod region.

There were no reports of any attacks on the Krasnodar region.

The Volgograd refinery, which was recently attacked, is one of the largest in Russia, with a processing capacity of about 14 million tons of oil per year.
