Russia shells Kherson region, killing one and injuring 14

In the Kherson region, as a result of Russian attacks over the past day, February 2, 1 person was killed, and 14 were injured, including two children.

The Communications Department of the National Police of Ukraine reported this.

"The Kherson region police are recording the consequences of another Russian attack: one person was killed and 14 were injured; among the injured are two children and a policeman," the report says.

According to the police, over the past day, the occupation forces massively shelled the Kherson and Beryslav districts with artillery, mortars, and UAVs. They carried out an airstrike on the regional center.

"Kherson, Sadove, Antonivka, Stanislav, Prydniprovske, Tomyna Balka, Zelenivka, Mykilske, Oleksandrivka, Chaykyne, Beryslav, Havrylivka, Zolota Balka, Novovorontsovka and Arkhanhelske suffered from enemy shelling," the police said.

According to the agency, the Russian strikes damaged more than 40 objects: four apartment buildings and 21 private houses, critical infrastructure facilities, cafes, gas pipelines, three civilian cars, a police service car, an emergency medical care vehicle, three outbuildings, two garages, and a warehouse.

In Beryslav, a 54-year-old resident suffered an explosive injury and traumatic amputation of his lower leg due to a Russian drone attack.

In addition, the Russian army dropped explosives from UAVs on Antonivka. Two residents were injured:

  • a 59-year-old man suffered a mine-blast injury,
  • a 40-year-old man was diagnosed with a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to his legs.

A 35-year-old woman suffered a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to her chest in Stanislav as a result of a drone attack.

"In the afternoon, Russian military forces targeted a shuttle bus in Tekstylne using a drone. The explosion caused the vehicle to catch fire, injuring five passengers, including two children aged 12 and 13. The victims sustained blast injuries, closed head injuries, contusions, and burns," the report says.

It is noted that the shuttle bus burned utterly, and a civilian car was also damaged.

The director of the regional children's hospital, Inna Kholodniak, reported in a video that the children are in satisfactory condition in the hospital.

"Two children who were injured as a result of the explosive device being dropped on a minibus were taken to the hospital in the afternoon. The children's condition was of moderate severity, acute stress reaction, acubarotrauma, and minor skin injuries. Today, the children's condition is assessed as satisfactory," Kholodnyak informed.

According to her, the children are receiving the necessary treatment. Their mother, who was also injured, is also under the supervision of doctors.

In addition, the occupants hit a police car with an FPV drone, which injured a 34-year-old Kherson policeman. He was taken to the hospital with an explosive injury and gunshot wounds to the head and face. The vehicle is significantly damaged.

"The Russian military used an FPV drone to strike a private house in Havrylivka, causing damage. A private house in Tomyna Balka was damaged due to the discharge of ammunition from a UAV. Artillery fire damaged a private house in Zelenivka," the report says.

According to the National Police, since the very morning, the Russian military has been striking the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson with artillery and UAVs.

A 72-year-old woman was killed, and a 50-year-old man was injured as a result of artillery shelling of residential areas. An apartment building, nine private houses, and an outbuilding were damaged.

"Later, Russian forces targeted a multi-story building with an FPV drone, resulting in significant damage to several apartments. A 74-year-old man suffered a concussion from the impact. Additionally, an explosive device was dropped from a drone onto an emergency medical vehicle en route to a call. While the vehicle sustained damage, the medical personnel inside fortunately escaped injury," the press service reported.

In the afternoon, Russian aircraft dropped a guided bomb on the old center of Kherson. As a result of the powerful impact, two apartment buildings, seven private houses, a cafe, two garages, and a car suffered significant damage.

"Two residents were injured. A 40-year-old woman received an explosion injury, multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso, a gunshot fracture of the shoulder blade, and a bruised lung. Rescuers freed a 46-year-old woman from the rubble of the building and handed her over to the ambulance crew. Doctors assess the victim's condition as serious. She has explosion and craniocerebral injuries, contusion, and shrapnel wounds to the abdominal cavity," law enforcement officials said.

All services joined in the elimination of the consequences of the enemy attacks. The police collected irrefutable evidence of involvement in the shelling by the Russians.

Over the past day, police responded to 227 citizen applications and reports regarding criminal offenses and other incidents. Eleven proceedings have been initiated under Article 438 (War Crimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On February 2, the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Roman Mrochko, reported that the enemy also dropped an explosive device from a drone onto a minibus in Kherson. The incident occurred in the Dniprovskyi district, after which the bus caught fire. As a result of the attack, five passengers were injured, including two children.

It was also reported that as a result of the enemy attack, civilian infrastructure was destroyed. Roman Mrochko noted that Kherson "shuddered from the airstrikes that the enemy cynically carried out on residential areas."

In total, over the past day, Oleksandrivka, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Beryslav, Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Dudchany, Mykilske, Shliakhove, Sadove, Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Tomyna Balka, Zelenivka, Chaykyne, Novovorontsovka, Arkhangelske, Veletenske, Ivanivka, Kizomys, Lvove, Mykolaivka, Mykhailivka, Novodmytrivka, Olhivka, Poniativka, Rozlyv, Sablukivka, Sofiivka, Tokarivka, Tiahynka, Chervony Mayak, and the city of Kherson were under Russian fire and airstrikes.
