Ukraine identifies fallen defender whose decapitation photo circulates online

Russians are circulating a photo online depicting a decapitated Ukrainian soldier. According to preliminary data, Ukrainian authorities have already identified the fallen defender.

The Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, Artur Dobroserdov, reported this.

The Commissioner said that hostile information resources are spreading the photo of the severed head of a Ukrainian soldier.

"We would like to inform you that thanks to the measures taken by the employees of the Commissioner's Secretariat, we have been able to establish the identity of the deceased," Dobroserdov noted.

He said the National Police were informed about this and established contact with the soldier's relatives. The police will conduct the necessary investigative actions to clarify the incident's circumstances and establish the body's location and other important details.

At the same time, Dobroserdov informed the Prosecutor General's Office about another gross violation of international law by the Russians.

It should be noted that the former Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Andrii Kostin, stated that about 90% of Ukrainian prisoners of war were subjected to torture, rape, threats of sexual violence, or other forms of cruel treatment.

In addition, as the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said, Ukraine is already aware of over a hundred cases of execution by Russian military personnel of Defense Forces fighters who surrendered to captivity.
