Reuters reported this, citing sources.
Kellogg, a retired lieutenant general who is to become the Trump administration's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, was reportedly planning to arrive in Kyiv in early January for meetings with Ukrainian leaders. His team was also preparing talks with officials in Rome and Paris.
The trip was to be the first visit by representatives of the new Trump administration to Kyiv since the November 5 election, but it was postponed.
Kellogg is expected to arrive in Ukraine after Trump officially takes office. However, the exact date of his visit has not yet been determined.
The reasons for the trip's postponement remain unknown. Reuters notes that Kellogg and representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington declined to comment on the situation.
"Trump repeatedly stated during the election campaign that he could resolve the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office, but he has not made significant progress in this direction. Nevertheless, efforts to quickly end the conflict remain a key priority of his new administration," the publication says.
For reference:
On November 27, President-elect Donald Trump selected retired General Keith Kellogg as his assistant and special representative for Ukraine and Russia.
Kellogg held high positions in the Trump administration from 2017 to 2021. He was, in particular, the head of the National Security Council and the national security advisor to Vice President Mike Pence.
According to media reports, Kellogg proposed his own plan to end the war in Ukraine. This plan provides that American weapons will be supplied only on condition that Ukraine agrees to peace talks with Russia. At the same time, the United States is ready to warn Moscow about the consequences of refusing to negotiate, including increased support for Kyiv.
In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine positively assessed the appointment of retired General Keith Kellogg as a special envoy of the newly elected US President Donald Trump on the war in Ukraine.
