Rheinmetall will send Ukraine another 180 thousand 35-mm ammunition for Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery systems.

The manufacturer reported this on its website.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has ordered Rheinmetall to supply an additional 35-mm ammunition for the Gepard anti-aircraft system in December 2024. The new order includes 180 thousand HEI-T ammunition (a high-explosive incendiary device with a tracer mechanism).

The cost of the order is "a double-digit number of millions of euros" and is financed by Germany.

In February 2023, Rheinmetall received an order to supply Ukraine with 300 thousand ammunition for Gepard.

The ammunition can be used to effectively engage various air targets, such as drones. They are produced at the Rheinmetall plant in Unterlüsse.

Due to the increased demand for 35-mm ammunition, the factory's production line was reconstructed in the spring of 2023.

To date, Germany has transferred 55 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine, which were decommissioned in the Bundeswehr.

Rheinmetall also provides Ukraine with state-of-the-art air defense systems, such as Skynex equipped with programmable AHEAD airburst ammunition.

It should be noted that, in December, the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a contract with the German defense manufacturer Rheinmetall. Ukrainian soldiers will be supplied with ammunition.

For reference:

Rheinmetall is the top producer of firearm-centered air defense systems and the sole provider of a complete selection of fire control systems, secure and integrated guided missile launchers, and more. This selection is also bolstered by air monitoring systems and radar technologies featuring search and detection radars.

In addition to these means, the company supplies armored vehicles and has a joint venture in Ukraine.

It should be noted that the Federal Antimonopoly Office of Germany allowed Rheinmetall to create a joint venture with Ukraine at the end of September. The company was reported to be based in Kyiv.

It was also previously reported that the German concern Rheinmetall was negotiating the construction of a tank plant in Ukraine.

On June 11, it was announced that the Ukrainian Defense Industry and Rheinmetall had commenced their first joint workshop in Ukraine to repair and manufacture armored vehicles.

It is important to note that Rheinmetall was actively helping Ukraine in the war against Russia by supplying ammunition and various equipment. In particular, the concern recently received a new order for artillery shells for Ukraine.

The Rheinmetall concern will build four weapons production plants in Ukraine, one of which is already working.
