Russian UAV debris claims one life and injures four in Kyiv and region

On the night of December 3, Russian troops launched a strike drone attack on the capital and the Kyiv region. The impact caused fires and led to casualties and one fatality due to falling UAV debris.

The head of the regional military administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported this.

Air defense was operating in Kyiv tonight. As a result of the attack by Russian drones in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts of the capital, UAV debris fell, and a fire broke out.

The Kyiv City Military Administration report notes that, according to preliminary data, debris fell in the Holosiivskyi district due to the enemy attack.

Klychko announced that there was no fire in the Holosiivskyi district, where the UAV's wreckage landed. The authorities are currently inspecting the area.

Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that falling debris caused a fire to break out in a private house in the Darnytskyi district. Rescuers extinguished the fire.

"Rescuers extinguished the fire, and information about the victims is being established," the post noted.

Later, Klychko clarified that there were no victims in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, where the fragments of the UAV fell.

In a district of the Kyiv region, a truck driver passed away from injuries sustained by fragments from a downed target. The man died on site.

The State Emergency Service clarified that this happened in the Brovary district. The driver, born in 1999, died.

In another district, the fragments of a downed UAV fell on a private house, causing a roof fire.

Three people were injured:

  • a woman born in 1957 suffered an acute stress reaction,
  • a 16-year-old boy suffered a cut; he will be hospitalized in a children's hospital,
  • his father sustained cuts to his legs.

The State Emergency Service clarified that this happened in the Bila Tserkva district. Four private houses and one outbuilding were also damaged. A fire broke out in one of the houses, which was extinguished at 05:02 a.m.

In the Fastiv region, a young woman born in 2002 was injured due to falling debris. She is currently receiving medical care at the district hospital.

The Kyiv region police reported on Facebook that as of 07:30 a.m. in the Kyiv region, damage was recorded to:

  • six private houses,
  • a utility building,
  • a non-working car wash.

A grassy area caught fire in one of the districts. The State Emergency Service employees extinguished the fire.

According to Tymur Tkachenko, this time in the capital, the air raid alarm began at 4:00 a.m. and lasted more than three hours.

"Fortunately, significant damage was avoided. A young woman was injured, who received a burn on her hand; she refused hospitalization," Tkachenko noted.

Meanwhile, the Defense Forces managed to destroy most of the enemy UAVs on the outskirts of Kyiv, although some debris was falling in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts.

Investigators will initiate criminal proceedings under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating the laws and customs of war.

On the morning of January 1, Kyiv experienced a drone attack that caused debris to fall on a residential building in the Pecherskyi district and two non-residential buildings in the city. Additionally, a fire broke out in the Sviatoshynskyi district due to the attack.

There was partial damage to the fourth to sixth floors of a residential building in the Pecherskyi district, with a fire breaking out on the fourth and fifth floors, covering 70 square meters. The fire was contained, and a woman was successfully rescued.

Regrettably, due to the enemy drone strike on January 1, the death toll has risen. Currently, two fatalities have been confirmed. Additionally, six individuals are injured, including two pregnant women.

On January 2, Kyiv rescuers completed search and rescue operations in the house in the Pecherskyi district that was damaged by the Russian attack on January 1 and are continuing emergency and recovery measures.

In total, on the night of January 1, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 111 air targets: air defense forces managed to shoot down 63 drones. Another 46 UAVs were lost in location.
