The Ministry of Defense Innovations of Ukraine's Main Directorate of Defense Innovations has tested FPV drones controlled via fiber-optic cable for Ukraine's armed forces.

What is the problem?
"The enemy continues to increase its capabilities in using drone control technologies via fiber-optic cable. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to neutralize its advantages in this segment," the head of the Unmanned Aviation Systems Department of the Main Directorate of Innovations of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant Colonel Yevheniy Tkachenko, said.
What is the solution?
Ukraine has completed the testing phase for a line of drones equipped with fiber-optic communication and is close to finalizing the process of obtaining a NATO code.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's Main Directorate of Defense Innovations has tested FPV drones controlled via fiber-optic cable.
As reported, the demonstration was held for representatives of the commands of the types and individual branches of Ukraine's armed forces.
How does it work?
As part of the event, several domestic manufacturers presented more than 10 models of Ukrainian-made drones capable of carrying up to 3 kg of payload.
The demonstration flights were directly observed by experienced UAV operators – potential users of this technology.

"Domestic manufacturers demonstrate their readiness to quickly adapt to modern challenges of war and implement the latest developments. Today, in confirmation of this, we see the successful operation of the means and their effectiveness and, no less importantly, the readiness to quickly scale these technologies to meet the army's needs," Tkachenko emphasized.
In turn, UAV operators confirmed drones' tactical and technical advantages and expressed interest in supplying them for combat missions.

"Although the technology is not new, it is extremely effective in the conditions of modern warfare and active electronic countermeasures from the enemy. Despite certain features of this type of drone, they are indispensable for the successful performance of certain special tasks. We expect that with their help, the effectiveness of combat missions will significantly increase," the external pilot, UAV operator of one of the units of Ukraine's armed forces, Senior Private Ihor Yu., said.
According to Yevheniy Tkachenko, several devices presented at the show are already at the final stage of codification and will soon be supplied to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

It is worth mentioning that the German company HIGHCAT will be conducting drone tests in Ukraine. These drones use coils with fiber optics, enabling them to function well in areas with substantial electronic interference.
It was also reported that Ukrainian developers have created a new WarDog drone, which can conduct reconnaissance in rugged terrain and under the influence of enemy electronic warfare.
