Russian army has lost 3,600 main battle tanks and 8,000 armored vehicles since February 2022 – British intelligence

Due to these losses, the Russian Federation is forced to use outdated and poorly maintained equipment from strategic storage bases.

Old Soviet tanks are being removed from depots, where they are partially modernized and then sent to the front line.

"The images have confirmed a significant reduction in armored vehicles stored at tank storage bases in Arsenyev, Buy, and Ulan-Ude since 2022," the British Ministry of Defense said.

It is worth mentioning that British intelligence reviewed the Russian Armata tanks in January 2023. They stated that the Russian Federation would most likely send the tanks to the front solely for propaganda reasons, as using them poses a risk to their army.

"If Russia deploys the T-14, it will most likely be for propaganda purposes. Production is likely to be in the tens of thousands. Commanders are unlikely to trust the vehicle in combat," British intelligence stressed.

Later, the British agency added that due to doubts about the technical condition of the latest Russian T-14 Armata tanks, the Russian military. However, they had prepared a small batch for use at the front but were hesitant to use them.

It is worth adding that last day, on December 17, the Defense Forces eliminated another four tanks. Thus, the total losses of this enemy equipment since the beginning of the full-scale war, according to the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces, amounted to 9,567 units.
