Solutions from Ukraine: new mobile rehabilitation module opens in Kropyvnytskyi to support war-affected Ukrainians

A new mobile rehabilitation facility has been opened in Kropyvnytskyi to offer support to veterans, their families, and civilians affected by the full-scale war.

Against the background of an increase in the number of wounded defenders, the problems of accessibility of rehabilitation and psychosocial services for veterans and civilians without the need to travel to other cities are becoming more acute.

What is the solution?

On December 16, a new mobile rehabilitation module was launched in Kropyvnytskyi by collaborating with Oshchadbank, the NGO "Bezbariernist," Mindy Charitable Foundation, Visa, and the Kirovohrad Military Regional Administration. Its purpose is to aid military veterans, their families, and civilians impacted by the full-scale war.

The Kropyvnytskyi space marks the third social franchise by the Mindy charitable foundation, made possible by the support of Visa and Oshchadbank. This partnership with Kernel is the first of its kind to provide rehabilitation and top-notch psychological aid for Ukrainian residents in areas where these services are not readily available, hard to access, or lacking quality.

In general, the project is being implemented in cooperation with the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the NGO "Bezbariernist" within the framework of the All-Ukrainian mental health program "How are you?" – an initiative of the First Lady Olena Zelenska, as well as with participants of the "Business without Barriers" community – Visa and Oshchadbank.

How does it work?

This 72-square-meter module is completely accessible and equipped with top-of-the-line modern equipment. The module's experts will offer patients comprehensive rehabilitation services, which encompass physical therapy, social integration, and psychological support. Specifically, this includes gait training using prosthetics, assistance with prosthetics, occupational therapy, and speech rehabilitation. The module will also provide legal support, employment assistance, training, retraining, and other social services.

The social franchise model also includes collaboration among a diverse team of experts, maximizing the effectiveness of the rehabilitation process. The rehabilitation program will be overseen by professionals, including a case manager, psychologist, doctor specializing in physical and rehabilitation medicine, physical therapist, speech therapist, and other specialists.
