British Film Institute names Ukrainian film U Are the Universe one of the top movies of 2024
According to the British Film Institute, the list of the best films of 2024 includes the Ukrainian film "U Are the Universe."
The State Film Agency of Ukraine reported this.
On December 10, the British Film Institute published a list of the best films of the year based on a survey of 118 experts in cinematography from different countries.
In total, 394 films were nominated, among which the Ukrainian film "U Are the Universe," directed by Pavlo Ostrikov, was included in the list of the best.
According to Kaleem Aftab, director of the international program of the Red Sea International Film Festival, the film was among the three best.
"U Are the Universe" was created with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine and the ForeFilms company in co-production with Ukraine and Belgium.

It should be noted that the science fiction tragicomedy "U Are the Universe" was shown at the 13th Paris International Fantastic Film Festival – an annual festival dedicated to fantasy, thrillers, horrors, and animation.
In late September, the movie "U Are the Universe" garnered multiple accolades at the Festival Européen du Film Fantastique de Strasbourg (European Fantastic Film Festival in Strasbourg). It was honored with the festival's top prize, the Golden Octopus and the Silver Melies Award.
It was also reported that Ukrainian films were screened at the Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF), held from November 1 to 17 in the United Kingdom. This year, the festival featured Ukrainian films, including those created with the support of the State Film Agency:
- "U Are the Universe" directed by Pavlo Ostrikov – Fanomenon competition program;
- "Redaktsiia" directed by Roman Bondarchuk – Constellation competition program.
In addition, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival award was won by Ukrainian actor, now a military man, Volodymyr Kravchuk. He was recognized for his role in the film "U Are the Universe" directed by Pavlo Ostrikov.
