Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers and 370,000 soldiers have been wounded to varying degrees.

This was shared by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a post on social media, as reported by Rubryka.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers," Zelensky stated.

He also noted that 370,000 cases of medical assistance have been provided to wounded soldiers, emphasizing that 50% of the injured return to active service. "This includes all injuries, even light and repeated ones," he added.

Zelensky highlighted the stark differences between the Russian military and the Ukrainian Defense Forces, particularly in the development of front-line medicine. "One of the key differences is the level of front-line medical care, which is much more advanced in our army," the president remarked.

He also shared insights into Russia's battlefield losses, stating that since September, Russian casualties have reached a ratio of 5 or even 6 to 1 compared to Ukrainian forces. He suggested this reflects Russia's desperation to gain more territory before facing mounting global pressure.

Zelensky reminded that thousands of Ukrainians are still held in Russian captivity, including both military personnel and civilians.

"These are thousands of people, some of whom have been in captivity since 2014, when the occupation began," he said.

As of February 24, 2022, as the President emphasized, 3,935 of Ukrainians have already been returned from Russia:

  • 3,767 soldiers,
  • 168 civilians.

"We must return everyone, and this is still a significant amount of work. And we must establish the truth about all of our missing people," he emphasized.

Recall that British intelligence pointed to record losses of the Russian army:

  • In November 2024, the average daily losses of the Russian army amounted to 1,523 people.
  • The total number of losses for the month exceeded 45,000 people, which is the highest figure for the entire war.

Also, experts from the Institute for the Study of War announced significant losses of the Russian military during the autumn offensive on the territory of Ukraine in 2024. According to their calculations, there are about 53 dead soldiers for each square kilometer of captured territory.

In particular, a new high was recorded on November 28, when the number of casualties exceeded 2,000 people per day. In total, personnel losses in November amounted to 45,690 people, which was the highest monthly figure in the last five months.

During three months of active offensive operations — in September, October, and November 2024 — Russian troops lost 125,800 soldiers, capturing 2,356 square kilometers.
