Solutions to win: Ukraine’s armed forces receive new “Peklo” drone missiles with 700 km range

On the occasion of Ukraine's Armed Forces Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky handed over the first batch of the latest "Peklo" ["hell" in English – ed.] drone missiles to the Defense Forces.

It is noted that, in addition to the head of state, the event was attended by:

• Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's armed forces Oleksandr Syrsky,
• Defense Minister Rustem Umerov,
• Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin,
• Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Anna Hvozdiar,
• Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Strategic Issues Oleksandr Kamyshin.

As noted, this is the first series of Ukrainian-made drone missiles that have been transferred to the military and launched into mass production.

During the event, it was reported that the Peklo drone missiles have already been successfully used for five times.

The aforementioned drone missile has a range of 700 km and a speed of 700 km per hour.

For security reasons, the Ukrainian drone missile's other technical characteristics and the number of units transferred are not named, but it is worth recalling that earlier, the head of state noted that this is a fundamentally new type of weapon.

The participants of the event also emphasized that in terms of their effectiveness, Ukrainian drone missiles are not inferior to certain types of Russian cruise missiles but are much cheaper.

In 2024, Ukraine will produce more than 10,000 medium-range strike drones and more than 5,000 drones with a range of 1,000 km.

The Ukrainian Security Service chief recently announced that Ukraine has developed a one-of-a-kind sea surface drone called "Sea Baby." While the drones are made in Ukraine, the factories where they are produced are located underground.

Additionally, Ukraine is now mass-producing its own version of the Shahed UAV. Each month, dozens of these drones can be manufactured. Ukrainian drone companies can currently produce up to 150,000 units per month and aim to make 2 million drones by the end of 2024.

Ukraine has also scaled up the mass production of the R-360 Neptune cruise missile, with improvements to hit targets at longer distances.

It should be noted that by mid-2025, Ukraine also plans to receive its own cruise and ballistic missiles, which will significantly enhance its defense capabilities.

Also, it is worth mentioning that the recently created Ukrainian drone missile, known as "Palianytsia," took a year and a half to develop. This missile is launched from a ground-based installation and can reach several dozen Russian military airfields.
