Demining coalition unveils 9-year roadmap for Ukraine’s recovery and support

At the ninth meeting of the Demining Coalition, chaired by the Republic of Lithuania and Iceland, participants discussed Ukraine's requirements for equipment and weapons. They also approved the Roadmap for Assistance for 2025–2034.

The event brought together representatives from 14 countries, alongside officials from NATO's Assistance to Ukraine (NSATU) and the Security Assistance Group for Ukraine (SAG-U).

Lithuanian and Icelandic representatives reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine and emphasized further coordination among coalition partners.

Ruslan Berehulia, Dmytro Hereha, and Maksym Komisarov expressed gratitude to international partners for their consistent and sustained support in addressing the aftermath of the war.

"Contamination of Ukrainian lands with explosive objects and remnants of war poses a significant threat to civilians," said Colonel Ruslan Berehulia.

He called for decisive action and additional efforts to clear affected areas, protect civilians, and ensure stability in the post-conflict period. He also urged non-member countries to join the Coalition for Demining.

Colonel Berehulia provided an update on current and planned procurement activities based on identified needs. The meeting included detailed discussions on coalition member proposals for training and equipping demining units and reviewing a list of critical material and technical requirements.

Major General Dmytro Hereha highlighted the importance of international support:

"Foreign assistance strengthens the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to effectively conduct combat operations and resist Russia's aggression. Together, we are advancing toward victory and a peaceful, secure future for Ukraine."

As of 2024, the Coalition has facilitated the delivery of the following to the engineering units of Ukraine's Armed Forces:

• 40 M113 armored personnel carriers
• Over 200 anti-drone systems
• 118 SUVs and 240 mine detectors for combat demining tasks

Previously, Rubryka reported that the updated concept of the Demining Coalition was unveiled in Vilnius by Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas.

The concept includes:

• Elements of "humanitarian demining" in liberated territories
• "Combat demining" in frontline areas

According to Anušauskas, implementing these measures is a top priority for Lithuania's assistance to Ukraine from 2024 to 2026. The anti-mine coalition, led by Lithuania, currently involves 22 countries planning to participate.
