Russia launches 188 missiles and drones on Ukraine, targeting energy sector

From the evening of November 27 to overnight, Russian forces released 91 missiles and 97 drones over Ukraine, equaling a total of 188 aerial attack vehicles. The primary focus of these attacks was on critical energy facilities.

The Air Force Command of Ukraine's armed forces reported that.

The Air Force detected:

  • three S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles launched from the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation over the Kharkiv region;
  • 57 Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers, launch area — Volgograd region of the Russian Federation;
  • 28 Kalibr cruise missiles, launch area — the Black Sea;
  • 3 Kh-59/69 guided aircraft missiles, launch area — the airspace over the Black Sea;
  • 97 Shahed attack UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicles of unknown type from the Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Orel, Bryansk, and Millerovo regions in Russia.

This enemy drone package attack was directed at Ukrainian energy facilities, the military said.

The air attack was repelled by:

  • anti-aircraft missile troops,
  • aviation,
  • electronic warfare units,
  • mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 10:30, the following were confirmed to have been shot down:

  • 76 Kh-101/Kalibr cruise missiles,
  • three Kh-59/69 guided aircraft missiles,
  • 35 Shahed attack UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicles of unknown type.

Another 62 enemy drones were lost in location.

Since the evening of November 27, the Russian Federation has been trying to attack Kyiv and several other regions of Ukraine with strike drones.

On November 28, the Russian army struck again at the energy sector of Ukraine. On the morning of November 28, explosions thundered in Kyiv, Odesa, Lutsk, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, as well as in Vinnytsia and Rivne regions.

Ukrainian energy facilities were hit. In particular, strikes were recorded on the infrastructure of Shostka, Sumy region. The following remained without electricity:

  • over 280 thousand subscribers in the Rivne region,
  • 215 thousand — in the Volyn region,
  • 523 thousand — in the Lviv region.

It is expected that emergency power outages will last until the evening.

Due to Russia's massive strike on November 28, train delays are being reported in Ukraine. Currently, six trains are running behind schedule.
