United to win: Germany funds 30 GEREON RCS unmanned ground systems for Ukraine’s armed forces

The German government has officially announced that it will fund the supply of 30 GEREON RCS unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for Ukraine's armed forces.

The German Aid to Ukraine columnist on the social network X reported this.

These cutting-edge platforms made by ARX Robotics have a wide range of capabilities, including:

• managing logistics operations,

• and transporting injured individuals for medical evacuation (CASEVAC).

The company's CEO announced that the supply of GEREON RCS will be completed by the end of 2024. At the same time, the first deliveries have already begun.

GEREON RCS is a multi-purpose tracked modular platform that can carry various payloads and combat loads weighing up to 500 kilograms over a distance of up to 40 kilometers.

The drone family has four representatives: GEREON RCS, GEREON ATR, GEREON 3 and GEREON 2. ARX Robotics' ground platforms are already undergoing experimental operation in the German Bundeswehr.

In addition, ARX Robotics also announced the creation of a Technology and Service Hub in Ukraine. The main tasks of the new center will be:

• rapid adaptation of systems to the needs of the Ukrainian army,
• operational, technical maintenance,
• cooperation in the field of R&D with local engineers and startups.

The hub is planned to open in January or February 2025.

It should be noted that Germany also plans to provide Ukraine with new technological support. In particular, the German company Helsing will supply Ukraine with 4 thousand drones with artificial intelligence.

Since the start of the full-scale war, Germany has become the largest supplier of military assistance to Ukraine among European countries. In particular, Berlin has transferred:

• Patriot air defense systems,
• Leopard 2 tanks,
• PzH 2000 self-propelled guns and other weapons to support the Ukrainian military.

There is also an agreement with Germany to reinforce air defense immediately. The agreement includes arrangements where the participating countries will contribute to collaborative projects or fund their initiatives to enhance the air defense capabilities of Ukraine's armed forces.

Thus, the sixth of the planned IRIS-T air defense systems from Germany will arrive in Ukraine by the end of this year.

In addition, the German company Rheinmetall has transferred another 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles.
