Ukrainian athlete makes history with world record in freediving

Mykolaiv athlete Kateryna Sadurska made history in women's freediving by setting a new world record in the "constant weight without fins" discipline. She successfully dove to a depth of 82 meters.

The 32-year-old beauty dedicated her achievement to Ukraine and those who support the country in difficult times.

The world record dive occurred during the AIDA international competitions, which started on November 25 on the island of Dominica. Sadurska shattered her previous record by two meters, surpassing her previous dive of 80 meters at the World Freediving Championships in Kalamata, Greece, last month.

As the swimmer reiterated, she can't believe this is already her sixth world record this year.

During her record-breaking dive in the Dominican Republic, she held her breath for 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

However, it had its challenges. On November 25, the athlete could not complete the attempt due to heavy rain. At a depth of 30 meters, she decided to resurface. Luckily, the weather improved the very next day, and Kateryna successfully reached the record depth, holding her breath for 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

"It seems easy and felt like it should be. But this path was not easy," the athlete commented on her achievement.

Kateryna has set her sixth world record this year at 82 meters. Her most significant competitor, Mirela Kardasevic from Croatia, only reached a depth of 75 meters. This has solidified Sadurska's standing in the world of freediving.
