Solutions to win: Kharkiv developers unveil new anti-tank mine-clearing machine

A new demining machine was unveiled in Kharkiv that can penetrate up to 30 cm into the ground and is specifically designed to eradicate anti-tank mines.

What is the problem?

According to Synehubov, over 1.25 million hectares of land in Ukraine, including farmland, power lines, roads, and bridges, have been contaminated with explosive devices. Considering the extent of this issue, Ukraine requires new solutions and modern tools.

The Kharkiv Regional Military Administration recently unveiled a mechanized demining machine at the Mine Action Coordination Center. This advanced technology is a major milestone in the effort to clear enemy mines and shells from the region's deoccupied areas.

The cost of this equipment is approximately 450 thousand euros. It replaces imported counterparts, which are priced three times higher. Repairing it will be more cost-effective and efficient, as spare parts and components are also manufactured in Ukraine.

How does it work?

"The new mechanized demining machine is an innovative Kharkiv development. It is built on the basis of modern domestic technology and meets high European safety and efficiency standards," the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration emphasized.

The machine is equipped with a 320-horsepower engine and tracked and support rollers. Additionally, it features a hydraulic system that enables the lifting of the working mechanism and facilitates transportation onto a trailer.

The mechanism utilized in this machine has interchangeable components. It consists of chains outfitted with either hammers or a milling cutter that can penetrate up to a depth of 30 cm into the soil. This functionality allows for the neutralization of ammunition, particularly anti-tank mines.

Thanks to this equipment, Ukraine will be able to expedite landmine clearance, safeguard sappers, and promote the growth of a Ukrainian manufacturer.
