NATO Parliamentary Assembly passes resolution to bolster Ukraine, endorses provision of 5,000 km-range missiles

The Parliamentary Assembly of the North Atlantic Alliance has passed a resolution urging increased support for Ukraine. The resolution specifically calls upon NATO members to supply Ukraine with medium-range missiles that can target distances of 1,000–5,500 kilometers.

The resolution of the NATO PA and the people's deputy and head of the Ukrainian delegation, Yehor Cherniev, stated that.

As noted in the text of the document, it is proposed to "provide Ukraine with all the means, including medium-range missiles, to protect and deter further aggression" by Russia.

According to Cherniev, this refers to missiles with a range of 1,000-5,500 kilometers, which can strike at the strategic depth of the enemy. These include, in particular, Tomahawk missiles.

"The Ukrainian delegation managed to convince Western colleagues to support my proposal and include this item in the resolution of the next session of the Assembly," the deputy said.

The parliamentarian explained that this paragraph in the resolution "creates a legal basis" for NATO member states' decisions to transfer such missiles.

In addition, the text of the resolution called for:

• to intensify "political and practical efforts" for the "as soon as possible" invitation of Ukraine to NATO,
• to support the Victory Plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the "peace formula,"
• to "remain faithful to the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine."

Earlier, the New York Times, citing high-ranking US officials, wrote that Zelensky, as a secret part of his Victory Plan, requested long-range Tomahawk missiles from his allies.

According to journalists, this secret part concerned the third paragraph of the Victory Plan, which focuses on deploying a "non-nuclear deterrence package" in Ukraine. It is within this paragraph that Ukraine allegedly asks for "Tomahawks."

The president later confirmed this was confidential information between Kyiv and the White House. He was outraged that the media had revealed it.

"This was confidential information between Ukraine and the White House. How are we to understand these messages? So, this means that there is nothing confidential between the partners," he stressed.

It should be noted that the White House officially confirmed the permission for Ukraine's armed forces to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russia.

American officials confirm that Ukraine first used ATACMS missiles to strike an arsenal near the city of Karachev in the Bryansk region.

It should be noted that on November 17, Western media reported that the administration of US President Biden permitted Ukraine to use provided American weapons to strike at Russian territory.

Following the US, similar permissions were granted by France and the UK.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the media wrote that the United States and its partners had allowed Ukraine to launch long-range strikes at the territory of the Russian Federation. However, strikes are not made with words; the missiles will speak for themselves.

What will the permission to strike at the Russian Federation with long-range weapons mean:

• First of all, this is a direct threat to 15 Russian air bases, from where planes take off that launch guided aerial bombs at Ukrainian positions and cities. Theoretically, this could stop the terror of Kharkiv, Sumy, and the border region.
• In September, Putin stated that strikes at the Russian Federation with long-range weapons would mean the direct participation of NATO countries in the war.
• The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has compiled a list of 245 Russian military facilities within the ATACMS range.
• One component of the Victory Plan is the authorization to launch strikes at Russia. Zelensky has consistently stated that Ukrainians are aware of the origin of the missiles and bombs being launched at them, as it is all documented. The only thing lacking was the approval to act.
