Russia deploys record 188 UAVs over Ukraine: air defense downs 76, almost 100 missing on radar
On the night of November 25, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with 188 Shahed strike UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicles of unknown type. Ukraine's air defense successfully eliminated 76 enemy drones, while nearly 100 were lost in the area.
The Air Force Command of Ukraine's armed forces reported this.
According to the military, on the night of November 26 (starting from 7:30 p.m. of November 25), the invaders attacked the country with Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Voronezh and Kursk regions.
Moreover, the enemy conducted a significant night attack, deploying an unprecedented amount of Shahed strike UAVs and unfamiliar unmanned aerial vehicles from various areas in Russia, such as Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
According to the Air Force, the radio-technical troops detected and tracked 192 air targets, including:
- Four Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
- 188 enemy UAVs.
The following units were involved in repelling the Russian attack:
- aviation,
- anti-aircraft missile units,
- EW means,
- mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"As of 09:00, air defenses shot down 76 enemy drones in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Rivne, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regions," the Air Force of Ukraine's armed forces emphasized.
Also, the military reported a loss of 95 UAVs in the area, likely as a result of the Defense Forces' electronic warfare measures, and five drones headed toward Belarus.
"Unfortunately, several regions were hit by a massive UAV attack, causing damage to critical infrastructure facilities, private buildings, and apartments. No casualties or injuries were reported," the Air Force added.

On the evening of November 25, Russian invaders unleashed multiple waves of kamikaze drones across Ukraine's territory. This widespread attack, which utilized Shahed drones, triggered air raid alerts in nearly all regions.
Russian drones attacked the energy infrastructure of Ternopil; the city was left without electricity; work is underway to restore electricity and water supply.
The Russian invaders launched a large-scale assault on Kyiv using drones, but Ukraine's air defense forces were able to shoot down all enemy aircraft. As per initial reports, the capital sustained no damage or casualties.
Furthermore, at approximately 10:00 a.m. on November 25, the Russian military launched a missile attack on Odesa. Early reports from the prosecutor's office indicate that they targeted the heavily populated city center with an Iskander-M missile, resulting in 11 injuries.
In addition, at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 25, Russian troops struck the central part of Kharkiv, hitting a courtyard next to high-rise buildings. 25 people were injured.
