Ukrainians around the world join Strichka platform, commemorating 1000 days of full-scale war with global actions

Rubryka reports on the most fascinating actions from around the world that have joined the digital platform Strichka's initiative.

On November 15, the digital platform Strichka launched the global campaign Unbroken for 1000 Days, which aimed to keep the world's focus on Russia's war against Ukraine, express gratitude to partners, and appeal for additional assistance. Rubryka had previously covered the campaign.

As a part of this effort, Ukrainian activists living abroad coordinated actions and rallies in their respective cities. The Strichka team, who initiated the movement, called upon caring Ukrainians and foreign supporters to join in these events with the purpose of:

  • highlighting the catastrophic effects of the war;
  • expressing gratitude to nations and individuals who have stood by Ukraine during this challenging period;
  • calling on the global community to continue aiding Ukraine in halting Russian aggression.

And did it really work?

Strichka has reported that the international campaign Unbroken for 1000 Days has traveled from Antarctica to the USA, from Finland to Peru, and has brought together over 20 Ukrainian organizations from more than 15 countries.

Germany

Yes, in Berlin, the Unbroken for 1000 Days movement participants convened to symbolically take 1000 steps, each representing a day of Ukraine's struggle. As they marched, they held up posters depicting the amount of aid Ukraine receives from its allies and heartfelt words of gratitude. The participants stressed that Ukraine is currently Europe's shield, defending the world from aggression. However, amidst their gratefulness, they also made a plea: not to delay or stay indifferent and to continue supporting Ukraine's fight for freedom.

In addition, on November 19, Berlin witnessed another event – a rally in front of the Russian embassy organized by the "Chervona Kalyna Berlin" NGO.

"The bandura player's performance and other musicians' were canceled due to bad weather, but that didn't stop people from huddling under umbrellas and coming together in a supportive circle. They held up posters with infographics created by the Strichka team, which were prepared specifically for the event," the head of the organization, Kateryna Serbinova, said.

Italy

The charity organization People for Ukraine rallied in Rimini to support Ukraine. Alongside Ukrainians, Francesco Bragagni, a representative from the Rimini city government, and compassionate citizens and politicians from nearby cities came to show their solidarity. The organizers mentioned that passers-by stopped and showed interest in the event.

"The vast majority of Italians support Ukraine," the resident addressed the event participants.

A symbolic march also occurred through the streets of another Italian city, Ancona. Then there was a rally, where people talked about the Maidan, the 1000 days of resistance, and the Holodomor.

Andrii Podolsky from Insieme per Ucraina says: "At the end of the path, an air raid siren sounded so that Ancona could also hear for a minute what Ukrainians have been hearing for 1000 days."

Estonia

The Estonian capital of Tallinn also carried the torch of support for Ukraine. Members of the Ukrainian community took to the streets with posters and flags outside the Russian Embassy. The Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Estonia and a group of dedicated activists (both Ukrainian and Estonian) have been organizing weekly rallies supporting Ukraine since 2014.

During the event, representatives of the Association distributed bracelets made by the Strichka team with the inscription "Unbroken for 1000 days" to all present.

Even in Antarctica, slogans in support of Ukraine were being heard as the National Antarctic Science Center joined the global Unbroken for 1000 Days initiative. Despite the snowy environment and penguins roaming near the station, the employees of the Ukrainian Antarctic Station, "Academician Vernadsky," showed their support for the cause.

In addition, Ukrainian activists joined the Unbroken for 1000 Days action in Washington, the USA; Cambridge, Great Britain, Slovakia; Regensburg, Germany; Barcelona and Tarragona, Spain; Tampere and Võro, Finland, Ireland, Poland, Peru; and also in Ukraine.

"It is especially pleasant to see the active participation in the events not only of Ukrainian activists and organizations but also of residents and politicians. No matter what anyone says, Ukraine has reliable friends worldwide, and we appreciate it very much," Strichka notes.
