Russian troops strike residential buildings in Odesa, causing fatalities and injuries

On November 18, the Russian Army bombed a residential building in the city of Odesa, causing both injuries and fatalities.

The head of the regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, reported that.

Around noon, people in Odesa heard an explosion. Before that, the Air Force had issued a warning about a possible ballistic threat coming from Crimea.

"Ballistics on Odesa," the military wrote.

At 12:16 p.m., the Air Force announced that the threat of ballistic weapons had been thwarted.

"Russian terrorists carried out a missile attack on Odesa. There are victims and injuries," Kiper said.

According to the head of the regional military administration, civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, was damaged.

Later, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, and the Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, confirmed the attack on Odesa.

"In Odesa, the Russians killed people with a targeted strike on civilian infrastructure. Russian murderers do not even hide their intentions," Yermak wrote.

Lubinets reported that the Russian missile strike once again targeted residential buildings.

"Yesterday – Sumy. Today – Odesa. We are already aware of the casualties. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families," he wrote.

Local Telegram channels share videos depicting the aftermath of the strike, revealing smoke billowing in the yards of residential buildings. Several shots also capture the bodies of people lying on the road.

According to MP Oleksii Honcharenko, after the Russian strike in Odessa, eight people have already died, as well as "many wounded."

"The enemy insidiously directed a missile at a residential area, an area of business activity. Currently, eight casualties have been reported as innocent civilians were simply going about their daily lives," the city's mayor, Hennadii Trukhanov, said.

In addition, according to Kiper, another 18 people were injured.

"18 injured. Among the injured is one child. Four people are in serious condition," he noted.

Footage from the scene of the occupiers' strike on Odesa has also begun to appear on the network.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also reacted to the enemy strike on Odesa.

"Russian terrorists' ballistic strike on Odesa, on a residential area. They hit the parking lot and caused damage to an apartment building, a university, and an administrative building.

As of now, eight people are known to have died. My condolences to the families and loved ones. Almost two dozen more people were injured. All necessary forces have been involved to help everyone who needs it," he noted.

The head of state emphasized that these were not random strikes – they were demonstration strikes:

"After the calls and meetings with Putin, after all the false gossip in the media about the alleged "refraining from strikes," Russia is showing what it is really interested in –  only war. And this signal should be heard in all parts of the world, from the halls where the members of the "Group of Twenty" meet to all the world's capitals."

According to the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper:

"39 people were injured, including four children aged 7, 10, and two 11 years old. The children are hospitalized in moderate condition."

Also, according to the head of the regional military administration, 30 adults are in hospitals, three in severe condition.

"Our doctors are doing everything possible and impossible to preserve the life and health of everyone. Other victims were provided with assistance on the spot," Kiper noted.

As for the dead, eight people died as a result of the Russian missile strike on the center of Odesa – among them were doctors, police officers, and ordinary civilians.

For reference:

It's worth mentioning that the joint Russian attack on November 17 caused significant damage to the Odesa region's energy infrastructure, resulting in disruptions to the region's supply of heat, water, and electricity.

In the Odesa region, the enemy targeted the region's energy infrastructure. Two employees of the energy facility died as a result of the attack.

According to reports, explosions were also heard in Odesa on the evening of November 14. The military announced a high-speed target and confirmed that the main heat supply pipeline was damaged due to an enemy attack. As a result, one of the city's boiler houses had to suspend operations temporarily.
