Rubryka explains how to join the campaign.
What's the problem?
Over 1000 days of war have ravaged cities and claimed thousands of human lives. Yet, it also speaks to the unyielding resilience of the Ukrainian people who, despite it all, persevere in their battle against the aggressor for their liberty and identity. Although it pains one to acknowledge, the extended duration of the war and other attention-grabbing news stories have caused waning interest in Ukraine among the global community.
What's the solution?
The " Strichka " digital platform is launching the global campaign Unbroken for 1000 Days to maintain the international community's attention to the war in Ukraine, express gratitude to partners, and call for further assistance.
The campaign is designed not only to remind the world of the challenges of the war but also to unite Ukrainians and their foreign friends around a common goal – to help Ukraine win.
How does it work?
Everyone should hear the voices of Ukrainians all over the world!
The Unbroken for 1000 Days campaign began on November 15 and is set to run until November 27th, 2024. "Strichka" cordially invites those who are not indifferent, both Ukrainians and international friends, to participate in the campaign to:
"The 1000-day heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people since the full-scale Russian invasion has become an example of indomitability. We survived thanks to our defenders and the support of people from all over the world. Every cartridge, generator, dollar, or euro of aid contributes to victory, security, and peace for tens of millions of people. And we will always be grateful for this. We appeal to the world to help Ukraine end this war with victory because only this guarantees peace," Dmytro Sholomko, co-founder of "Strichka," urges.
What is the action's essence?
As part of the initiative, Ukrainian activists abroad will hold rallies in their cities and invite citizens of other countries to join them—those who have been helping Ukrainians all this time.
Where will the events take place? Ukrainian organizations in Germany, the USA, Estonia, Spain, Finland, Italy, Peru, other countries, and the Ukrainian Antarctic Station "Akademik Vernadsky," have already confirmed their participation. Information about the events (location, time, contact persons) can be found at the link.
For example, in Ancona, Italy, activists from the Associazione Insieme Per Ucraina (Association Together for Ukraine) are organizing a candlelight procession in the city center to mark three significant dates: 1000 days of unyielding resistance in the war, the day of remembrance of the victims of the Holodomor, and the anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity. This event, scheduled for November 23, aims to unite Ukrainians and Italians.
"By joining Strichka's initiative Unbroken for 1000 Days, we remind the local community and authorities that the desire of Ukrainians for freedom is unwavering. We want people in Ukraine to know: we, Ukrainians abroad, are also fighting a common struggle, supporting them from all corners of the world, and we are supported in this by caring local citizens," Andrii Podolsky, a representative of Associazione Insieme Per Ucraina, stresses.
In Spain, the Ukrainian Cultural Center of the Province of Tarragona has planned two actions for November 19 – one in the center of Barcelona at noon and the second in Tarragona at 5:00 p.m. Serhii Nashora, an activist of the Centre Cultural Ucraїnes De Provincia Tarragona, says:
"We are coming together to remind the world about the war in Ukraine and to remember the achievements, gains, and help from partners. Who, if not us Ukrainians, knows the true price of this war? Who better to tell its story? That is why we are here – to speak, explain, and convince."
For the campaign, the "Strichka" team made 1,000 Unbroken for 1,000 Days bracelets in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Ukrainian activists in different countries will distribute them to foreigners who join the rally or march or those who support Ukraine in any way.
"Strichka" also created infographics illustrating the events of the 1,000 days of the full-scale invasion:
Ukraine's losses during this period;
International support for Ukraine;
Additionally, a video is available.
"These resources are available on "Strichka" for anyone to use during offline and online activities commemorating 1000 days of Russia's war against Ukraine. By sharing these materials at rallies and on social media, using local hashtags, and tagging influential individuals, Ukrainians living abroad act as ambassadors for Ukraine on the global stage. Each repost and every show is a chance to touch new hearts and gain new allies," organizers note.
How else can one join the action?
In the "Strichka" app, you can participate in all the events and complete easy tasks called "quests," which don't require you to attend rallies and can be done online.
One of the tasks is to make a short video in which a foreigner (friend, acquaintance, colleague) shares their opinion on why it's essential to continue supporting Ukraine and then shares it on social media. "Strichka clarifies that when a foreigner records a video supporting Ukraine, they become a part of our history in the fight for Ukraine.
More information about the action and quests can be found on the "Strichka" application.
If you are a member of the Ukrainian community living abroad and would like to participate in the event or receive materials (such as commemorative ribbons for those who have shown support for Ukraine, posters, and infographics), please contact partners@strichka.org.ua.
