Ukraine signs multiple deals with Denmark for purchase of weapons, including self-propelled guns, drones, and missiles
The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine have signed several implementation agreements with the Danish Ministry of Defense, clearly outlining the projects, funding arrangements, and arms provision terms.
The Ministry of Defense's press service reports this on Telegram.
"In the conditions of a full-scale war, the support of our international partners is critically important for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. Denmark was the first to start purchasing weapons directly from our defense enterprises. The Danish model of solidarity goes beyond just cooperation – it also embodies unwavering determination to support our fight for freedom and sovereignty," Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov said.
As noted, the documents finalize the agreements recorded in the letter of intent, which was signed in Kyiv at the end of September.
They are financing multiple purchases from defense companies in Ukraine, totaling about 535 million euros. The funding sources are the governments of Denmark and Sweden, along with interest from frozen Russian assets.
For reference:
Denmark has provided military support to Ukraine since the first days of the war and is constantly preparing new aid packages.
In particular, Denmark will allocate about 4.2 billion Danish kroner [about 629 million dollars—ed.] to Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase Ukrainian-made weapons.
The Danish government recently announced a new aid package worth about 783 million Danish kroner ($116 million) to support Ukraine's military needs. The package aims to meet Ukraine's short-term and long-term defense needs.
Earlier, Denmark and Germany handed Ukraine eight more Leopard 1A5 battle tanks as military aid.
The head of the Danish Ministry of Defense, Troels Lund Poulsen, emphasized that such agreements have obvious logistical advantages and contribute to the development of the defense industry in Ukraine.
In total, the Danish government allocated 200 million Danish kroner ($28.5 million) to purchase Ukrainian weapons and military equipment directly from Ukrainian manufacturers for Ukraine's armed forces.
Such a decision is the first in history and is expected to become a precedent for other countries. This is what Ukraine has been asking its partners for in recent months.
In addition, it became known that Ukraine will receive another batch of F-16 fighters from Denmark by the end of 2024. The exact date and number of aircraft in the new deliveries remain classified for reasons of operational security.
