A new rehab facility has opened within Synevyr National Nature Park, aimed at aiding red deer who have been victims of poaching or have encountered challenges in their natural habitat. Expert veterinarians and animal behaviorists will oversee the treatment and recovery of the deer before they are released back into the wild.

The Ministry of Environment of Ukraine reported that.

The new center is focused on providing aid to animals that have been harmed or are unable to survive in their natural habitat because of human interference.

As Deputy Minister of Ecology Serhii Vlasenko noted at the opening of the center, the main goal is to provide animals with the necessary care and rehabilitation.

"The rehabilitation center is designed to help animals that have suffered from poaching, injuries or have lost the ability to survive on their own in the wild. Here they are provided with the necessary care and rehabilitation in order to return to existence in the natural environment," the official said.

As part of the visit, the deputy minister also opened the newly constructed building of the Vilshansky nature protection research department. It is a modern center for monitoring the natural ecosystems of the park, which studies:

  • flora and fauna of the Carpathians,
  • the influence of climatic changes and anthropogenic factors.

"Scientific work is the basis of nature protection activities. The new department will allow for a deeper study of the processes occurring in nature and to protect it more effectively," Vlasenko emphasized.

The deputy minister also familiarized himself with the work of the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center, which operates in the Synevyr Park. The center provides a safe haven for brown bears who have been affected by human interference or have been faced with challenging circumstances.

For reference:

It should be noted that the Lviv Home of Rescued Animals has introduced Ukraine's first "pocket shelter." This is a mobile app that allows anyone, even from a distance, to become a caretaker for any animal residing in the shelter.

Moreover, a specialized clinic has been established in Dnipro to provide care for rescued horses. The facility was constructed at the Pegasus animal shelter, made possible through donations from the animal rescue and environmental organization UAnimals and the support of the Humane Society International fund. The construction of the shelter cost approximately two million hryvnias and took three months to complete, with the necessary funds being fundraised within six months.
