United to win: US to supply over 500 Patriot and NASAMS missiles to Ukraine
The United States of America sends more than 500 interceptor missiles to Ukraine, which are used for the Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to The Wall Street Journal.
Such assistance is provided because of the increase in massive attacks by Russian drones on Ukraine. The missiles are expected to arrive soon.
According to a senior US official, the Pentagon sends over 500 interceptor missiles to Ukraine for Patriot and NASAMS. Deliveries are expected in the coming weeks.
They note that these supplies should cover Ukraine's air defense needs by the end of this year.
The supply of weapons to Ukraine usually lasts weeks or even months, and as an American official said in a comment to the publication, the planned increase in the supply of weapons, particularly air defense equipment, causes "great concern."
According to the official, the US is considering other options for helping Ukraine, for example, buying weapons from other countries.
The Pentagon also has a limited stockpile of aviation munitions for the F-16. The US supplies Ukraine with advanced AGM-88E guided missiles.
For reference:
It should be noted that the White House intends to speed up the delivery of the remaining batches of defense aid to Ukraine due to the risk that the Trump administration may end previously approved support.
Another challenge is the limited availability of pre-made weapons for the Pentagon. Although the allotted funds reimburse the Defense Department for aiding Ukraine, the speed at which items such as artillery shells can be produced is also highly significant.
It is essential to mention that the 6 billion dollars remains from the 61 billion dollars in funding approved in April for Ukraine. This amount is divided into two parts: 4.3 billion dollars to replenish the current reserves of the US army and 2.1 billion dollars to be used for contracts with American defense companies to purchase weapons.
