Russia launches air attack on Ukraine, striking Kharkiv and Odesa, injuring and killing civilians

On the night of November 8, Russian troops targeted two districts in Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs, causing damage to a high-rise building and injuring 25 people, including a baby. They also launched a large-scale drone attack on the Odesa region, damaging civilian infrastructure and resulting in casualties. It has been reported that there is at least one fatality and several injuries. In Zaporizhzhia, the death toll due to Russia's attack has risen to 8.

On the night of November 8, the Russians attacked Saltivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts of Kharkiv.

"One of the strikes is in the center of Kharkiv city; there is damage to civil infrastructure," Synehubov informed.

In the Saltivskyi district, the Russian forces struck the 12-floor tall building, completely demolishing the entrance between the 1st and 3rd floors.

"People are trapped on the third floor of the 12-storey building. Work is underway to rescue them," Terekhov said.

Nearby houses, cars, and subway exits were also damaged.

The incident left 25 people injured, including a three-month-old baby, according to Terekhov. Five of them were taken to the hospital. The residents of the building were stuck on the third floor.

Rescuers are still sifting through the rubble. Thirty people were evacuated from the impact site; five were taken to hospitals, and their injuries were described as moderate to minor.

In the Shevchenkivkyi district in the center of the city, Russian bombs fell in an open area, damaging historic buildings, public places, and residential buildings.

The Russians attacked this location twice, with the second strike occurring close to a residential building. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The second strike damaged at least:

  • Six high-rise buildings,

  • trade pavilions,
  • cars,

  • Massive attack of Odesa

Explosions rang out in Odesa on the evening of November 7. The military had cautioned about the potential drone attacks.

Last night, the enemy launched a large-scale drone assault on the Odesa region, causing damage to civilian infrastructure and resulting in injuries.

"Odesa region. According to preliminary data, one person died as a result of a cynical enemy attack," the State Emergency Service reported.

According to Kiper, a 46-year-old man who was driving a car at the time of the attack died from a shrapnel wound.

It is also known about nine victims, including a 91-year-old woman with an acute reaction to stress. In addition, six people were hospitalized.

As a result of the night shelling, residential buildings in the private sector were damaged, two of them caught fire.

The rescue team also put out fires in warehouses and cars on the company's premises. Furthermore, the school building was damaged.

In addition, two gas pipes in Odesa were depressurized and set on fire as a result of shrapnel damage. Several buildings have shattered windows.

All relevant emergency services are working to eliminate the consequences. The State Emergency Service's pyrotechnicians have already examined the territory for explosive objects.

Service psychologists helped 15 people, including a child and a pregnant woman.

  • Air defense operation in Kyiv and the region

During the announced air alert on Friday morning, air defense forces operated in Kyiv and the surrounding area.

"The air raid alert continues—missile attack. We ask everyone to stay in shelters. Air defense is operating in the region," the Air Force reported.

In Kyiv and the region, the air alert has been in effect since Thursday evening. At 5:27 a.m., the Air Force reported a missile in the direction of Kyiv.

The Military Administration of Kyiv City mentioned that an anti-aircraft defense system was operating in the capital.

  • Russian attack on Zaporizhzia

The death toll from the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia on November 7 has risen to 8, including a 1-year-old child among the victims of the aggressors.

"The number of people killed due to the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia has increased to 8, including a one-year-old boy. Forty-two people were injured," Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said.

As reported, on November 7, the Russian occupation forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with five rockets and guided aerial bombs, as a result of which residential buildings and a hospital were hit.

Earlier, it was reported about four dead and 17 wounded. Rescuers were looking for people under the rubble.

It's worth mentioning that on the evening of November 6 and throughout the night, Russian troops launched an attack on Ukraine using 106 Shahed-style attack UAVs and an unknown number of other drones. Ukrainian air defense units successfully shot down 74 enemy drones while 25 were lost in location.
