Rebuilding Ukraine: Solidarity Charity Foundation joins Mykolaiv region's reconstruction efforts
The Solidarity Charity Foundation has joined efforts to rebuild the Mykolaiv region. It will specifically focus on supporting educational institutions and contributing to the region's housing restoration.
The Solidarity Charity Foundation reported that.
What is the problem?
Since the full-scale war began, the Mykolaiv region has suffered extensive destruction. Despite multiple unsuccessful attempts to occupy the area, the Russians have continued to launch attacks using missiles, UAVs, and artillery. According to a report by the World Bank called "Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment in Ukraine for February 2022 — February 2023," the region ranks high in terms of damage caused by the occupiers. The estimated damage in the region is 5.6 billion dollars, while the actual needs are at 13.7 billion dollars.
What is the solution?
The local authorities are actively cooperating with international and Ukrainian donors and partners to ensure the rapid and effective reconstruction of the region. Among them is the Solidarity Charity Foundation, which announced its readiness to participate in the restoration of Mykolaiv and the region.
On October 31, during the inaugural "Mykolaiv—City on the Wave" International Conference, the organization's leader, Mathieu-Marie Arden, signed memorandums of understanding and cooperation between Solidarity, Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, and Mykolaiv City Council.
"For Solidarity, assisting those who need it most is essential. The Mykolaiv region is a front-line region constantly suffering from enemy attacks. We cannot stand aside when it comes to the safety and well-being of residents. Our foundation aims to provide the necessary resources for recovery and create all the conditions for the full-fledged development of the community," the head of the charitable foundation, Mathieu-Marie Arden, said.
How does it work?
Up to this point, the Solidarity team has already assisted in the initial collaborative projects with Mykolaiv's mayor, Oleksandr Sienkevych, and the head of the regional military administration, Vitalii Kim.
In particular, the Charity Foundation Solidarity:
📌 will help arrange a shelter in the building of the Mykolaiv Construction College;
📌 will provide support to a boarding school in the village of Berizky in the Mykolaiv region;
📌 will participate in the restoration of the housing stock of the region.
"The people of Mykolaiv suffer a lot from difficult living conditions – because, in addition to the significant destruction of the infrastructure, there has been no drinking water in the city for more than two years. Therefore, I am sincerely grateful to Solidarity for paying attention to our situation and the much-needed help. With joint efforts, we will overcome all difficulties – and rebuild a modern and comfortable Mykolaiv," the mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Sienkevych, said.
"We are always open to new partnerships that will help us restore the region. I am convinced that together with such a reliable partner as Solidarity, we will implement important projects for the Mykolaiv region much faster," Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, noted.
For reference:
In addition to the Mykolaiv region, the Solidarity Charity Foundation works in the other areas of Ukraine, helping with recovery and reconstruction. In October, the foundation's team had active projects to rebuild social and housing infrastructure in Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Nizhyn, and Hostomel.
