Solutions to win: Ukrainian manufacturers unveil cutting-edge swarm of drones and guided munitions

The Ministry of Strategic Industries, in partnership with Brave1 and supported by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the General Staff, and the National Guard of Ukraine, organized a demonstration of technology solutions from Ukrainian manufacturers in the fields of swarms of drones for group missions and guided munitions.

The Ministry of Strategic Industries created a platform for communication between various departments to improve the quality and efficiency of products and solutions.

According to Herman Smetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries, this kind of joint interaction will make the presented solutions as effective as possible at the front.

"Swarms of drones are an advanced technology that will allow the military to look not one step, but several steps ahead of the enemy. We are working on the number of such products, but quality should come first. The Ministry of Defense should supply the army with the products that the Defense Forces need—the most effective, up-to-date, and designed for the conditions in which military operations take place. For manufacturers to be able to realize this, we are gathering such events," Herman Smetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries, said.

Seventeen manufacturers showcased their developments, demonstrating their progress at different levels. Seven presented drone swarm technology for group missions, while the other ten showcased guided munitions of various weights. They discussed the operating principles behind their solutions and provided demonstrations on the testing site, showing how drones could carry out group missions with minimal operator intervention. Test drops of guided munitions were also conducted from a height of over 1 km to measure accuracy.

"Our goal is to help the Ukrainian military to save their lives. We strive to replace humans with drones wherever possible, especially in high-risk situations. This is already happening: drones perform combat and reconnaissance missions and help with medical evacuation. Therefore, we are actively working on improving these solutions, making them smarter and more effective in the hands of our Defense Forces," Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Anna Hvozdiar said.

The State Research Institute for Testing and Certification of Weapons and Military Equipment sent representatives to the event, where they met with manufacturers. The main discussion topics were the creation of technical standards and the development of test methods. The goal was to help manufacturers better prepare their products for testing, certification, and other required procedures.

The military, being the end users of these products, familiarized themselves with the solutions and offered their suggestions for improving and enhancing them.
