The Norwegian government will allocate 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner (over 118.2 million dollars) to purchase the necessary equipment and weapons for the F-16 fighters. Ukraine will receive the planes by the new year.

According to Ukrinform, Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram stated this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Wednesday in Odesa.

"The first transfer of F-16 by Norway to Ukraine will be carried out this year," the Norwegian minister said.

He mentioned that Ukraine will also require components besides the planes for their supply.

"We will help finance the purchase of weapons systems for the F-16 and various components to support them. NOK 1.3 billion will be spent on this," the Norwegian Defense Minister said.

During the meeting, the ministers also discussed strengthening air defense systems, providing Ukraine with missile systems, and investing in the Ukrainian defense and industrial complex.

"Today, we went to check out the defense industry facilities in Odesa, and I have to say I'm really impressed by the significant growth in production and the high level of innovation, " Gram said.

The ministers also visited the military rehabilitation center in Odesa.

For reference:

Earlier, Norway announced that it would provide Ukraine with a new aid package worth 500 million euros. More than half of this amount will be used for military aid.

It should be noted that Norway actively provides military aid to Ukraine. It became one of the few countries that agreed to hand over its F-16 fighters.
