Ukrainian companies become second in number of applications for tender of Drone Coalition

Ukrainian manufacturers of UAVs became the second in the number of submitted applications in the second series of tenders announced by Great Britain within the framework of the Drone Coalition.
Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitalization, announced it.
For the first time, Ukrainian manufacturers were admitted to a series of international tenders consisting of two lots:
- production of advanced FPV drones with autonomous functions and stable communication,
- interceptor drones.
"26% of submitted proposals for advanced FPV drones come from our inventors. And this is gratifying because we are achieving our goal — to scale the production of drones both in Ukraine and in the West. This will help create an asymmetric technological advantage over the enemy in the long term," said Kateryna Chernohorenko.
According to the deputy minister, there were fewer applications this time than in the first tenders. At the same time, the quality of the proposed solutions is much higher due to a change in the approach to the tender.
User scenarios have also been added to the description of technical requirements, which outline the problem that needs to be solved technologically. This approach prompts the search for the best, and the tender, in this sense, becomes an incubator for new technologies.

Ukraine and Latvia are forming a Drone and Electronic Warfare Coalition, with other allied countries expected to join. Currently, the Drone Coalition includes 16 partner countries.
Latvia took the initiative to create the drone coalition during a meeting between its Minister of Defense, Andris Sprūds, and Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Rustem Umierov, in December 2023.
Ukraine has already received thousands of drones as part of the initiative. With the funds already accumulated by the Coalition for joint procurement (€71 million), another 20,000 to 30,000 drones are expected to be purchased and delivered.
