"In light of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, as of October 21, 2024, Russian forces have already killed 545 Ukrainian athletes and coaches, as well as destroyed 523 sports facilities. Despite this, Ukrainian athletes continue to show high results and demonstrate indomitable spirit," the department emphasized.

For reference:

It is worth mentioning that at a charity auction, the sword used by two-time Olympic champion Olha Kharlan to make the winning shot in the team fencing final at the 2024 Paris Olympics was sold for 10 million hryvnias.

Furthermore, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Olympic champion and track and field athlete, donated some of her prize money from the 2024 Games in Paris to Ukrainian animal rights activists.
