Russian UAV strikes high-rise building in Kyiv, killing a child and injuring five

In Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, apartments of a high-rise building on the 17th, 18th, and 19th floors sustained damage due to a direct hit from a Russian drone on the evening of Friday, October 25. Five people were injured, and unfortunately, a 14-year-old girl lost her life.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reports this on Telegram.

The authorities reported that more than 100 people were evacuated from the affected house.

"Apartments from the 17th to the 21st floors were damaged in a building in the Solomianskyi district. The fire was extinguished. A girl born in 2009 died. Five people were injured.

Four individuals received treatment at the scene, while one was taken to the hospital. A mobile tent was set up on-site to assist the building's residents," Klychko said.

The wreckage of the crashed UAVs also landed in an open space in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Based on initial reports, there were no injuries.

"In the evening, the enemy launched another attack on Kyiv. As a result of the enemy shelling, apartments on the 17th, 18th, and 19th floors of a 25-story residential building were partially damaged, followed by a fire on the 16th and 17th floors," the State Emergency Service reported.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has announced that criminal proceedings have been launched for violating laws and customs of war, along with intentional murder (under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code).

"It was established that on October 25, 2024, around 9 p.m., as a result of an attack by Russian UAVs on the capital, a fire broke out in two apartments on the 20th and 21st floors of a 24-story building in the Solomianskyi district, and apartments on the 17th to 21st floors were partially damaged.

Right now, we only know of one fatality: a 14-year-old girl who was in one of the apartments where the fire broke out. Paramedics attended to four victims at the scene, and one person was taken to the hospital," the message states.

On the evening of October 25, Russian soldiers launched yet another attack on the capital using drones. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, one of the drones struck a residential high-rise building, causing a fire to break out in an apartment building in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning at 9:00 p.m. stating that a Shahed drone had been spotted in the Kyiv region and was headed toward the capital.
