Solutions to win: Dnipropetrovsk schoolchildren gather over 400 kg of chestnuts for military's medicine
The "Chestnuts for the Armed Forces" event took place in Kamianske, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region. As part of the event, the city's inhabitants gathered a ton of chestnuts. A pharmaceutical company will use these to create an ointment specifically for treating varicose veins in military members.
Suspilne reported that.
The city lyceum gathered over 400 kilograms of chestnuts. The deputy director, Olha, mentioned that the first-graders, twins Danylo and Mykyta, were the most significant contributors.
The twins' mother, Maryna, said her boys collected over five kilograms of chestnuts in just one week. She mentioned that they often searched for the fruits on their way to school. They decided to join the campaign themselves.
"While we go to school, they have chestnuts in their pockets. This is to help our military, and they did it joyfully. After all, they understand how important it is now," the woman said.
Yaroslava, an eighth-grader, also supported the "Chestnuts for the Armed Forces" initiative. She joined her friends in the campaign, as her father has been a soldier since the beginning of the full-scale war. According to the girl, she fully comprehends the significance of helping fellow soldiers.
"I collected two bags somewhere, quite large. I really hope that at least one military man will be cured thanks to these chestnuts," Yaroslava said.
The deputy director of the lyceum mentioned that this is not the first time the school's students participated in volunteering. In the past, the students have helped weave nets and organize a charity fair.
In total, in two weeks, the residents of Kamianske collected more than a ton of fruits.
"It's nice that all city residents joined this campaign, from the smallest to the oldest. The kindergartens even brought us chestnuts with their kids," she said.
According to Olena, an organization representative, the chestnuts will be given to the Kamianske Children's Ecological Center. They will then be sent to volunteers in Lutsk, where a pharmaceutical company will purchase them to make ointments for the military's varicose veins.
The money raised from the sale will also go towards the needs of the armed forces.
