US reported a possible threat near religious institutions in Romania

US urged its citizens not to visit religious institutions in Romania during the weekend of October 11 – 13.

The country's embassy announced it on its official website.

The agency said it "received information about threats potentially targeting synagogues, churches or mosques in Romania over the weekend of October 11 – 13."

"The embassy urges US citizens to pay increased caution near religious institutions in Romania during this period," the message reads.

At the same time, the Romanian Intelligence Service said it did not have information to justify raising the terrorist threat level. At the same time, they added they would pay increased attention to protecting Romania's security.

It is worth noting the Jewish community celebrates the religious holiday of Yom Kippur, the Day of Judgment, on October 11 and 12. During this time, believers focus on fasting and repentance. This year, the celebration is taking place against the background of the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
