United to win: Scholz unveils €1.4 bln aid package for Ukraine by year’s end

Scholz stated that supporting air defense is still vital to Ukraine's aid. He also mentioned that Ukraine has already received a new package worth 600 million euros, which includes the fifth IRIS-T SLM system, tanks, howitzers, ammunition, and drones.

"By the end of the year, with the support of partners — Belgium, Denmark, Norway — we will deliver another package worth 1.4 billion euros to Ukraine," Scholz said.

It also includes air defense, IRIS-T, anti-aircraft artillery complex Skynex, Gepard systems, guided howitzers, self-propelled guns, armored vehicles, combat drones, radars, and ammunition.

By 2025, Germany will still be supporting Ukraine, with a budget of 4 billion euros already allocated. This includes direct bilateral military assistance.

Zelensky said he would present Scholz with the details of his victory plan—how to force Russia to make peace and "end the war no later than in 2025."

• On October 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Vatican to meet Pope Francis. During their meeting, the president gifted the pontiff with a painting depicting the massacre in Bucha.
