On the night of October 9, the Russian invaders attacked the geriatric center in Stepanivka, Kherson district, with the use of artillery, as a result of which medical personnel were injured.

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that on Telegram.

According to law enforcement officials, Russian troops launched artillery shells at the settlement at approximately 2 a.m.

The enemy fired shells at the geriatric center in Stepanivka, a part of the Kherson city community.

"Two medical workers were injured," the regional prosecutor's office reported.

The law enforcement officers added that a pre-trial investigation was started in criminal proceedings for violating the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

"Prosecutors, together with other law enforcement officers, are taking all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by representatives of the armed forces of the Russian Federation," the prosecutor's office said.

It is worth mentioning that this elderly care facility, situated 9 km away from Kherson, has faced Russian attacks before. Indeed, the Russian army targeted this geriatric center in Stepanivka in 2022.
