Solutions to win: Ukraine launches grant program for missile production
In 2024, Ukraine started providing grants for the production of missiles. The following year, grants for powder factories are scheduled to be issued.
According to Suspilne and UNN, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, said this on the sidelines of the Defense Tech Valley summit.
According to Fedorov, the ammunition market has already kicked off in Ukraine. The state has already contracted and purchased "millions" of projectiles, specifically for use in drones.
The regulations governing the production of gunpowder and other explosive substances in Ukraine have also been lifted.
"This year, for example, the investment amount of the Brave1 cluster has increased. I will tell you a secret: this year, we started issuing grants for the production of rockets. Next year, we will issue grants to powder factories. These are non-refundable grants that we give as a certain guarantee that you invest, and these investments will pay off," the minister said.
In addition, Ukraine is creating various simulators for testing defense technologies and infrastructure for testing.
"Before buying something, we test it on our own units and see how this or that drone works in real conditions, how the EW works," Fedorov explained.
Fedorov reported that in the past two and a half years, Ukraine has seen the emergence of more than 200 companies developing robotic ground platforms, 500 companies manufacturing drones, and over 100 companies specializing in radio-electronic warfare (EW).
For reference:
In August, it was reported that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved twice as many samples of Ukrainian-made weapons and military equipment for use in Ukraine's armed forces units as last year. This number exceeded 200 samples in 2023.
Specific samples of weapons made in Ukraine possess unique characteristics, demonstrated through their successful utilization in battle. Specifically, several drone models have solidified Ukraine's position as a global leader.
Recently, the adviser to the president on strategic issues, Oleksandr Kamyshin, announced that Ukraine has started its production of 155-mm artillery shells.
On August 24, during the Independence Day celebrations, Zelensky announced the first successful combat use of the Ukrainian "Palianytsia" drone-missile.
Also, during a press conference at the "Ukraine 2024. Independence" forum on August 27, the President said that Ukraine had successfully tested a ballistic missile of domestic production for the first time.
Also, the Ukrainian army began receiving new batches of 5.45×39 mm and 5.56×45 mm ammunition manufactured at local production facilities. This is a significant step in restoring the independent production of ammunition, which was lost after the occupation of the Luhansk cartridge factory in 2014.
Since the start of the Russian invasion, Ukraine has seen a significant rise in the production of drones and aviation complexes. These include not only copters and attack drones but also marine drones. According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine can manufacture 4 million drones annually. Over 1.5 million UAVs have already been ordered.
Recently, the Ministry of Defense reported that the new Black Widow drone bomber was put into service with Ukraine's armed forces. According to Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukrainian intelligence, Ukrainian drones can already hit targets in Russia up to 1,800 km from the border with Ukraine.
