Ukraine strikes three enemy command posts using Storm Shadow missiles and GMLRS shells

"The attack was carried out using Storm Shadow missiles and GMLRS rockets," the military command added.

Frontline situation

On October 4, Russian forces launched intense assaults on Ukrainian positions in the Kupyansk and Kurakhivsk directions, with Ukrainian defenders successfully repelling 50 attacks, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In total, 159 combat clashes occurred along the front.

In response, Ukraine's Air and Missile Forces, along with artillery units, targeted:

• Eight areas of personnel, weapons, and military equipment concentration
• Anti-aircraft defense systems
• One artillery piece in a firing position
• Three command posts
• One UAV control point
• One Russian radar system

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports that Russian forces lack sufficient manpower and material resources to maintain intensive offensive operations indefinitely in certain sectors of the front. As a result, they are unlikely to achieve operationally significant successes.

However, British intelligence suggests that Russian forces may continue their offensive in the Donetsk region, with Vuhledar already captured. The nearby village of Bohoyavlenka and the larger settlement of Velyka Novosilka are considered to be at risk.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have lost over 659,200 soldiers. On October 4 alone, Ukraine's Defense Forces eliminated nearly 1,300 Russian troops.
