Ukraine receives 10 specialized vehicles from UNDP to boost social resilience

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine, with support from the European Union (EU) and the governments of Canada and Denmark, has delivered 10 specialized vehicles in partnership with Ukraine's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Policy. These vehicles will enhance the ability of local services to respond more effectively to the needs of war-affected communities.

According to the Ministry of Health, as reported by Rubryka, the vehicles will serve as mobile hubs, aimed at boosting social resilience and well-being at the local level, while also assisting communities and their residents in coping with the impacts of the war.

The donated vehicles will be used to transport medical workers to the most remote areas of the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions.

"The ability to deliver social services where they are most needed is crucial for helping Ukrainian communities recover. With these specialized vehicles, we can better reach vulnerable populations, improving the social work system," emphasized Ukraine's Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovych.

UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine, Jaco Cilliers, highlighted that the war has placed immense pressure on the health and social services system, but through strategic cooperation with the Government of Ukraine and development partners, they are working to ease this burden.

The specialized vehicles will enable the delivery of essential services such as palliative care, family doctor visits, and psychosocial support.

The transfer of these vehicles is crucial in addressing the increased workloads in health and social services caused by the war. The additional transport will help overcome challenges like staff shortages and the lack of specialized services.
