Russian strike UAVs set new "record" in September with daily attacks on Ukraine
In September, Russian troops launched a total of 1,339 Shahed–type attack drones over Ukraine. The air defense forces were able to shoot down 1,107 of them, while others were suppressed using radio-electronic warfare techniques.
The ArmyInform's analysis of the Air Force of Ukraine's armed forces data evidences this.
September broke the record for the highest number of Russian drones launched. The total number of UAVs surpassed those launched in July and August combined.
On average, the Russians launched 44 Shahed drones each day. The occupying forces carried out the most UAV attacks on September 14, with a total of 72.
By the way, there was not a single day in September without the launch of Russian attack drones.

According to the monitoring group, the vast majority of launched UAVs are Iranian Shahed drones, regardless of recent discussions of new "Gerbera" UAVs. These Shahed drones are mainly the latest version, equipped with Chinese features and other components. For instance, there were no sightings of "Gerbera" UAVs in the Mykolaiv region.
This month saw:
- A remarkable achievement by air defense mobile units with an absolute record of more than 50% success rate in destroying drones.
- Aviation also sets an absolute record for the most losses of shot-down UAVs.
- Electronic methods also performed outstandingly, setting an absolute record for the most drones knocked down.
- Surprisingly, the specified UAVs had an unusually low accuracy in hitting their target.
As emphasized by the monitoring group, the enemy is likely accumulating missiles for the winter season. They are expected to target light and water infrastructure based on their planned attacks, and more than 85% of their attempted hits have been on these types of objects.
For reference:
On the night of September 30, the Russian occupiers again carried out a combined air attack on Ukraine, using kamikaze drones, missile weapons, and aerial bombs.
After 1 a.m., an air raid alarm blared in Kyiv as kamikaze drones were spotted approaching. Soon after, reports emerged of air defense operations in the city, accompanied by the sound of explosions. The Kyiv region also saw intense anti-aircraft activity as Shahed UAVs were detected in the area.
Ballistic missiles were launched over the city of Kryvyi Rih, where explosions were also reported.
A critical infrastructure facility in the Bashtan district of the Mykolaiv region caught fire after being hit by a Russian drone strike.
The air defense forces successfully neutralized all of the enemy's Shahed kamikaze drones used to attack Kyiv. In total, the Air Defense destroyed 67 drones.
