Some of Ukraine's allies explore diplomatic solution to war by 2025 – Bloomberg
Some of Ukraine's allies are discussing the possibility of ending the war with Russia through negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv in 2025. However, decisions on talks should only be made by Ukrainian officials.
Bloomberg reports this.
Sources report that several of Ukraine's alliances are currently discussing how to resolve the war. This has sparked concerns among Western capitals that Ukrainian troops may be compelled to halt their fighting prematurely.
Bloomberg's interlocutors specify that officials in Western countries have begun to consider ending the war between Ukraine and Russia more seriously through negotiations as part of the 2025 strategy.
However, Western officials also made it clear that Kyiv will make the decision on negotiations and that there is no pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in this matter.
As the publication writes, the fact that "there are no signs of a breakthrough" on the battlefield and the war is approaching another winter led to such discussions. Therefore, some officials began to study the possibility of "getting out of the impasse."
It is worth mentioning that the journalists draw attention to the fact that the ceasefire negotiations must solve a fundamental problem: how to make Ukraine invulnerable to a possible new attack by Russia while avoiding involving Western countries in the conflict.
For reference:
Ukraine proposed its diplomatic path to achieving peace based on international law norms and the principles of the UN Charter. This plan is known as the "peace formula."
The first Ukraine Peace Summit occurred in Switzerland on June 15 and 16. Representatives of 100 countries and international organizations participated.
Despite the mass media's statement, the participants of the peace summit adopted a joint declaration. It was signed by 78 states and four organizations and outlined three main points related to nuclear, food, and humanitarian security.
Later, several other countries and organizations joined the communiqué.
Although countries like China and Brazil have offered peace plans, Ukraine has rejected them as incompatible with its approach.
