Zelensky signs law integrating Unmanned Systems Forces into Ukrainian army
President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law, which defines Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of Ukraine's armed forces.
The draft law No. 11507 and the People's Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak confirmed that.
"The President signed Bill No. 11507, which provides for the inclusion of a new structure – the Unmanned Systems Forces – in certain branches of Ukraine'a armed forces," Zhelezniak said.
The draft legislation was formulated:
- to enhance the Ukrainian military's capacity to utilize unmanned and robotic technology in air, sea, and ground operations and
- to guarantee their deployment preparedness.
The draft law will be implemented using the funds allocated to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from the state budget for the current year.

On February 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed to work out the issue of creating a separate type of forces in the structure of Ukraine's armed forces— the Unmanned Systems Forces.
The document explains that its goal is:
- to enhance the capabilities of Ukraine's armed forces in utilizing unmanned and robotic air, sea, and land systems;
- to ensure that these systems are ready for use as intended.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stressed the significance of introducing a new branch in the armed forces, stating that it marks a crucial milestone in the progress of the Ukrainian army. This decision encompasses novel strategies, tactics, organization, and directives.
The Unmanned Systems Force was created on May 7. The Cabinet of Ministers [Ukraine's government – ed.] supported the draft of the President's decree on making this type of troops.
On June 10, Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky was appointed commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine's armed forces.
