Russia allegedly repels drone attack on Olenya air base

For the second consecutive day, residents of the Murmansk region in Russia have been complaining about drone attacks. According to reports, two unmanned aerial vehicles were allegedly shot down near the Olenya airfield.

The Mash Telegram channel reported that.

The implementation of the "Kovyor" plan, also known as the closed sky mode in the professional aviation industry, was a result of recent drone attacks at two airports in the Murmansk region, specifically in "Murmashi" and "Khibiny."

In particular, allegedly, two drones were shot down 7 kilometers from the Olenya airfield in Olenegorsk.

Yesterday, on September 11, it's worth noting that the Russians were already lodging complaints about the drone attack in the Murmansk region. The UAVs were spotted in the Severomorsk area, home to Russia's main naval base for the Northern Fleet.

In particular, two airports were closed in:

  • Murmansk,
  • Apatity.

For reference:

At the end of July, there were reports of a drone attack on an oil refinery and three Russian military airfields. Eventually, Ukrainian intelligence officially verified this information.

Later, it was discovered that three airfields and an oil refinery had sustained damage. One impacted location was the Olenya airfield, where a Tu-22M3 bomber was affected.

It should be noted that this airfield is situated approximately 1,800 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that a total of at least 12 kamikaze drones were shot down over the territory of Russia in the Kursk, Belgorod, Rostov, Bryansk, and Lipetsk regions.

On the night of August 30, the Russian Federation announced a drone attack on the airport near Kaluga in Crimea; explosions were also heard near the Kirovske airfield.

It should be noted that Ukrainian kamikaze drones attacked the Russian airfield "Savasleyka" on August 16. Three Russian planes were destroyed there.

On the night of August 14, Russia was massively attacked by drones. Even though the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the so-called "destruction" of 117 drones in eight regions of the aggressor country, the so-called Russian military commanders wrote about three Russian airfields that were under attack.

Then, the air bases of Voronezh, Kursk, Savasleyka, and Borysoglebsk were attacked.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Defense Forces delivered another strike on essential targets in the Russian Federation. They specifically targeted the Russian airfield "Lipetsk," causing it to catch fire.

Furthermore, in early August, the Defense Forces eliminated Russian anti-aircraft missiles and fighters at the Morozovsk airfield. At that time, the General Staff confirmed that Ukraine's armed forces had launched a drone attack on the Morozovsk airfield near Rostov, which caused damage to an ammunition warehouse.
