Two schoolchildren in Russia burn Mi-8 helicopter for reward
On the evening of September 11, in Noyabrsk, Russian Federation, two 13 and 14-year-old students set fire to a Mi-8 multipurpose helicopter in exchange for a reward. They were offered 5 million rubles (equivalent to almost $55,000) for completing this "mission".
The BAZA Telegram channel reported that.
According to reports, Russian teenagers managed to access the helipad area at Noyabrsk airport through a hole in the fence.
Afterward, they poured a flammable liquid onto the helicopter and lit it with cigarettes on the second try. The liquid explosion resulted in one of the boys suffering severe burns on his face.
Already within an hour after escaping from the airfield, both were caught.

"As a result, the boys' faces were badly burned, so after running a little away from the airport, the schoolchildren had to call an ambulance. The medics took the boys to the hospital. The helicopter was almost completely burned – only the tail remained," the channel writes.
During their conversation with the police, the students claimed that they were promised 5 million rubles (equivalent to 2.24 million hryvnias) to set fire to the helicopter.
Furthermore, they admitted that just a few days ago, they had set fire to a cell phone tower and were paid 30 thousand rubles (equivalent to $315) for it.
It is noted that the father of one of the students is currently fighting against Ukraine.

A 16-year-old resident from Dagestan was arrested in Chelyabinsk, Russia, in January 2024. He is accused of attempting to set fire to a military plane, namely a Su–34 bomber, at the Shagol airfield.
As a result of the attack of the Ukrainian Defense Forces last October on the airfields near Berdiansk and Luhansk, the Russian occupiers suffered significant losses: nine helicopters of various modifications, an ammunition depot, and an air defense installation were destroyed.
